Setting the Preview and Publish Target of a Folder

After you, the Administrator, have configured the root folder, you can configure other folders separately for different locations.  

You must clear the Inherit parent folder settings check box at the bottom of the Publishing Target page in order to modify settings on the Preview and Publish pages. If you leave the check box selected, the folder inherits the preview and publish site settings from its parent folder.

If you want to reset the preview and publish settings of a folder to those of the parent folder, select the Inherit parent folder settings check box.  

The Test Publish Target and Test Preview Target buttons test the connection by sending a small file to the target path, then loading it through the browser path. The test provides useful error messages if the target has problems.

To configure folders to use different preview and publish sites:

1. From the Publisher Administration portlet, launch Publisher Explorer.
2. In the navigation pane of the Publisher Explorer, right-click the desired folder.
3. On the context menu, click Publishing Target.
4. To configure a preview site, make sure the Preview tab is selected. To configure a publish site, click Publish.
