Finding a Content Item
You can search for a content item by its name or by the text it contains.
You can also search for content items assigned to you in a workflow and
for content items created from a particular data entry template.
Searching for Content Items
Begin your search from the navigation pane of Publisher
Explorer; results appear as a list in the table pane on the right
and can be sorted by name, associated data entry template, date, and other
criteria. In the results list, click any content item's name or icon to
open it.
To find content items:
- From the Publisher Administration portlet, launch
the Publisher Explorer.
- In the navigation pane, click the Search tab.
- Choose one of these options:
- Name of item
- Text in item
- Workflow assignment
- In Search for text box, do either of the following:
- If you are searching for content items by name
or text they contain, type the text to search for.
- If you are looking in workflow assignments, click
Users/Group and choose the desired
user or group from the dialog box that displays.
- If you want to limit the search to content items
derived from a particular data entry template, click Select
and, in the dialog box that displays, use the Path bar (in the upper-left)
and the folder list to choose the desired data entry template.
- Click Search.
Notes:
- Case is irrelevant: a search for dog finds
Dog, DOG, and so on.
- You cannot use wildcard characters in your search.
For example, * is interpreted literally and the search string "d*g"
only finds d*g. It does not find
dog.
- Text in item search looks only in text and long-text
properties. Text in other types of properties is ignored.
- Search results are limited to the content items you
have permission to view.
- You can quickly find content items assigned to you
in the Publisher Work List portlet
and the Content Items in Workflow
portlet.
- When you search for content items by the name of
the item or text in the item, you can type the search text in the Search for box before
you click Name of item or
Text in item.
- You can also type your search queries on the Search text box at the upper-right
of Publisher Explorer. Click
to search for items
by name only.
