Your Publisher Administrator grants users access to the system and assigns user roles. Each role has its own set of permissions.
A user can be assigned different roles in different Publisher folders. For example, you might be assigned the Producer role in one folder and a Submitter in another. Folders to which you do not have access do not display in Publisher Explorer.
The following table describes all Publisher roles:
Role |
Permissions |
No Access |
None. |
Reader | Can view content items. |
Submitter | Can create, preview, edit, save, delete, and search for content items. |
Contributor | Same permissions as Submitter, but can also view content item notes, workflow, version history, publishing information, and publishing schedule. |
Editor | Same permissions as Contributor, but can also publish items to Publisher or to the portal Knowledge Directory. |
Producer | Same permissions as Editor, but can also create and edit folders, data entry templates, selection lists, and presentation templates; preview and publish content items individually and by folder; edit content items assigned to others; and configure sections to publish and preview. |
Folder Administrator | Same permissions as Producer, but can also undo other users' check outs, override workflow, manage Publisher portlets, and set or change workflow properties and content security on folders. |
Administrator |
Same permissions as Folder Administrator, but can also access Workflow Administration to set up and delete workflow activities in workflow, as well as create, edit, copy, and delete folders. |
Note: There can be as many Folder Administrators, Producers, Editors, Contributors, and Submitters as needed, but there can be only one Administrator.
